thanks for reaching out. This is such a tough one; apart from insurance the best way to mitigate risk is to grow the business and employ an additional technician and spreading the workload and income between two people.

Another possible approach is to try and move clients on to a subscription service where they pay a certain amount per annum on a monthly basis, and you can schedule their services across the year. This could mean moving part of your income to an ongoing smaller but regular amount per month, and then if you need to deal with illness, the income keeps coming in and you can reschedule the treatments to a time that works for you and clients. I am not sure what your current client mix looks like – this approach would work best with bigger clients who have multiple services per year.
