Morning. Often it depends. A good place to start is your regional business partner. Typically Government does not have funding for startups per se, unless it is a heavy / deep tech R&D startup – it can have money for capability development or advice, but typically they will want you the founder to write down your hypothesis for the startup, whether that is in the form of a Lean Canvas or a short-form business plan. They don’t provide starting up funding for working capital or wages – they expect you to hustle to find that yourself – I say generally.

There are a couple exceptions – including:
– MSD has a startup grant of up to $10k, you have to write a business plan, get that reviewed and then you can access funding if approved
– Callaghan Innovation has some R&D funding grants
– Regional Business Partners are a Government model for engagement with small business
