Taking a startup lense on this challenge you describe, I would pose a few questions before obtaining the capital,

1. Do you know that your customers will buy the extended inventory? If so what is the CPC or metrics that you have to back up the return on this investment decision?
2. Can you pre-sell the exact amount of stock to your current user base to fund the acquisition of lifting the inventory? e.g. send an email out to your user base saying “hot new product line coming, landiing August, pre-order here to get yours first” – test your audience, if nobody clicks buy then this might be a good indication of the success fo that inventory or not.

A fascinating business model that is de-risking the e-commerce/fashion industry in terms of holding inventory is a kiwi company Asuwere, worth a google!
