We have launched a new product in the healthcare industry. E.g. my product is a consumable item, therefore it’s hard to apply a 12 month warranty due to expected wear and tear. How do I abide by the consumer guarantees act and not get in trouble!? Is it a legal requirement to display info on warranties, returns, replacements etc. Cheers.

There is a really good guide for what businesses must do in terms of consumer guarantees at https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/guidance-for-businesses/complying-with-consumer-laws/obligations-under-the-consumer-guarantees-act/. You do not necessarily have to give a 12 month warranty (particularly if a general consumer wouldn’t expect the product to last that long).

Also have a look at https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/guidance-for-businesses/complying-with-consumer-laws/obligations-under-the-fair-trading-act/ in terms of what you must, can, and cannot say about your products.
