Also, I like the idea of thinking about your startup as pre or post product market fit – are you pre or post? To be post, you have to developed your product/service, you are meeting a real need and you can’t keep up with demand – if you get to this point, then you just need ‘fuel’ to pour onto the fire of growth, and that can be a great time to raise capital.

I also accept that raising capital to get through to product market fit is also sometimes required. But think hard ‘if I don’t have money, what can I do’?
