Hello Hello again, we are launching a platform which will change the way people see and experience New Zealand. We understand one of the best things about New Zealand is the people. So we offer a product that not only markets and sells tourism to visitors but elevates and markets our communities as a destination. We make exploring New Zealand easy.We want to be involved or at least have the opportunity to show our product with regional tourism managers throughout New Zealand. We are at the free trial period of our business so are looking at on-boarding tourism providers from different areas of New Zealand. We want to collect feedback.I would love to be able to show the product to someone in tourism or technology to get constructive feedback.

Hi allI help our NZ Tourism Guide with marketing and sales – https://www.tourism.net.nz/ ~NZ Tourism Guide is an online directory of businesses in the tourism industry – they help tourists plan their holidays ~Needless to say NZ Tourism Guide’s business has been heavily impacted by Covid ~Based on some really useful advice on Manaaki we’ve worked on a new strategy for the business to make it more compelling for tourism businesses ~ We are wanting to transform it into a membership business focussed around helping tourism businesses grow and do better businessAny advice as to who I could ‘road test’ the strategy and roll out plan with? Thanks in advance

we have a holiday accomodation business . It is very seasonal most business is over summer. It is domestic market so no issues with the international tourist trade . we are looking to grow our market . also looking to “pivot” and add a cleaning service to other property owners who dont use us for booking their houses. we would like also to look to expand the business into another region . Alternatively we could sell the business and how would we value the business for sale ?

Kia ora awesome business advisors!Got some great advice a couple of months ago so circling back to ask about a new initiative we are trying. I own Nature & Nosh Tours – we run hiking and food tours across the Waikato and Coromandel with a 100% international audience pre-covid. We created a kiwi-focussed series of short escapes called the Guide Series and a few bookings have started to trickle in.I’m a couple of weeks away from launching our Corporate packages. I’m really excited about their long-term potential. We’ve partnered with Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari to offer bespoke half day to multiday corporate experiences for small groups of 6-15 that can incorporate: walking meetings (in nature), our immersive bush boardroom table for strategy sessions (facilitated or non-facilitated), wild food foraging, Rongoa Maori (traditional maori medicine) experiences, local food and wine tasting and demos, kayaking adventures and boutique or luxury accommodation.Through our partnership with Sanctuary mountain, our packages will contribute funds directly back to their conservation work and bird breeding programmes.I think from my research the bush boardroom and walking meetings are totally unique in NZ (has anyone come across anything similar?).I just wanted to ask questions around format. My background (before tourism and marketing) was conference & event management, so I know there may be opportunities for pre and post conference programmes. Sanctuary Mountain is based 50mins south of Hamilton and 1 hour from Rotorua, 1hour 20 from Tauranga. For companies looking for a company strategy session out of the office for their exec team, or team-building in nature with their small team, would this normally be half a day, or a full day including travel, or overnight? What time of year do they generally look to do something? (I know it will probably vary).I know companies generally have budget set for something like this, just looking for some insight if possible and maybe even a rough idea of budget per person. It’s almost impossible to find pricing online for similar packages as most are bespoke and priced upon enquiry. Thanks so much for any tips and tidbits you can offer.Cheers,Kylie

Ruapani ki Waikaremoana owns a small Lodge – about 35 beds. Due to lockdown we lost 3months bookings and almost went bust. To make matters worse our then General Manager took out a PG against the Trust, and that will probably lead to mediation. To save the business we quickly applied to MSD to become a provider for Emergency Housing. Caring for our people has been quite profitable and allowed us to keep our doors open. However we wish to re-open for the tourist season here, which usually starts in October and runs through to February-March. We’re not sure how this is all going to pan out, and would like some advice about a new strategic direction for the business.

Hi any suggestions on how a business that is 100% reliant on overseas clients can keep paying the bills untill our borders are open. We operate in a niche tourism sector catering for clients coming to New Zealand to ride and experience our fantastic country. We are a new & small player in this sector but it has cost us the best part of $250,000 dollars to get where we are. We have spoken to other operators in our sector who all report the same – zero business since the start of level 4. There is talk about shovel ready projects, well we are all ready with clients booked and ready to come & spend in all corners of New Zealand, unlike just skiers in Queenstown for instance. The very nature of our tours means we go all over the country spending everywhere, be great to hear some suggestions on how to keep our business alive and pay the bills. If we have to start selling our plant & machinery we won’t be here when the time comes. Yes we have all tried to find a New Zealand market, it just doesn’t exist for the obvious reason, if you ride you’ve probably got your own bike here. Plus you’re going to sort it out yourself. We all understand the why, we now need an answer to how we cope with a situation that is taking away our life’s savings and shuting down our business. No point taking more loans if we can’t pay them back because we don’t have a business. Bit of a catch 22 on that one. The government has worked well in dealing with COVID now they need to work as hard on dealing with the business fallout. Thanks for reading my rant, it’s just we are getting desperate for help.

Kia ora team,I own Nature and Nosh Tours – we offer fully inclusive guided gourmet hiking tours in the Waikato and Coromandel. Pre covid, we had 99% international customers (mostly Aussies). I didn’t want to hibernate and wait for the trans-tasman bubble (which now seems even further away!). So, I decided to create a limited series of escapes for kiwi’s with our local guides. There’s only 6 places on each of the three set date escapes, and I put in more work to creating them than I care to think about. But – I can put on more dates if these sell out.I launched on Friday, and I’ve put a post up on the NZ Made page just waiting for it to be approved. I’ve also done one promoted FB and Insta targeted post so far. Here’s the campaign landing page with links to each escape: natureandnosh.co.nzI’d love for you great experts to take a look at the pages and make any suggestions on if I’m missing anything to help people book/convert? I’m probably banking too much on the NZ Made page post getting a lot of traction and enquiries, but I’ll need to put more into promotion after this if it doesn’t, so any suggestion would be amazing! My target audience is mostly NZ couples, 35 – 60 years (but room for a few solo travellers), interested in health and wellness but perhaps not super confident to organise a tramping escape on their own – or just don’t have the time and want to treat themselves to a getaway after maybe having an overseas holiday postponed. I’ve actively targeted Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch as main centres. People would need to drive to the meeting point and we transport them during the escape from there (2 hours from Auckland), however, we can offer transfers in some instances. Thanks so much in advance!Kylie

What is the best way to market to corporate groups? How do you reach them? Is it by emails and calling? This is for a lodge and also a tourist activity (team building) venture. Thanks!

Hi thereI look after marketing for NZ Tourism Guide (tourism.net.nz). A bit about NZ Tourism Guide:1) It’s one of NZs largest directories of tour operators in NZ2) Last year 250k visitors per month visited the site each month. Over 50% of the visitors are Kiwi.3) 3 key benefits of tour operators listing with NZ Tourism Guide:a) Tourists visiting their website via NZ Tourism Guide.b) You can list with NZ Tourism Guide for a little over the cost of a flat white a weekc) Being linked to NZ Tourism Guide boosts a tour operators site’s search rankingThe team are passionate about doing their bit to get the industry back on its feet. We’d appreciate advice on any funding available and how we could best attract new tour operators to NZ Toursim Guide. Thanks in advance. Cheers Jono

Hi There,I own a Cycle tour company called Kiwi Journeys where we offer bike hire, tours and transport on Tasman’s Great Taste Trail and the West Coast Wilderness Trail. We have a great business and were have a very good year until covid. The past 3 years have been tough with cyclones, fires and now covid. I’m not one to usually reach out but a friend suggested Manaaki to seek some help. Half of our business is, or was international. so we need to try and survive on domestic clients. My main concerns are surviving which I’m quite anxious about, keeping my top staff, marketing as I can’t see past social media and newsletters. We have debt so loaning more money isn’t an option. Would love to chat and if possible get some help with marketing and website feedback. Many thanks, Andrew

I have an idea and want support or help to raise to higher areas if people think this could work Kiwi’s Holidaying at Home Aim: • Stimulate the economy after covid-19 • Focus on Tourism & Hospitality (keep employment in that sector) • Get Kiwi’s to holiday in NZ and experience what our country has to offer. Product: A pre-paid Eft-pos card distributed to every NZ Family that can only be used at physical locations that are part of the government pre-approved travel scheme. It needs to be an eft-pos card so people cannot spend it online overseas and to keep the transaction fees low. The card would have an app associated with it that would have. • Card Balance • Previous Transactions • Approved Venues and associated information • Booking information etc… • Could have a discount scheme for future use to entice kiwis to travel internally There would also be an associated Website and dashboard for the venues to apply for the travel scheme and enter the appropriate information of their business. This will also have consumer analytics to help the venue understand the people visiting to help with their marketing efforts etc.. Infrastructure: The card would run on the Paymark network and venues can be loaded overnight. Payment to the venues from the card would be paid overnight also via Paymark. Paymark would discount their fees The app would receive data from both the card database (transactions) and the website database for the venue information. Companies who offer the experience would offer discount for experience or accommodation or travel . this could be topped up by government or card . e.g K Jet boats in Queenstown charges !150 per ride but discounts to $ 100 . They could still be reimbursed a portion of what they gave away

We have an accomodation business. We are looking at what will happen in the Christmas period. Do experts feel that price will become an issue ? And if so do you give discount or add on services ?

Hi – as a charitable trust we are excluded from access to the $4million regional support package for SMEs as part of the Government to response to COVID-19, being delivered using the Regional Business Partners Network. In our case the is Te Waka.Where would you suggest we go for any financial support for this? I’m having to re-structure due to lack of income and am now having to pay HR consultants to support me through the re-structuring proposal and decision-making for redundancies.
