  Kia ora, I am a Maori designer/strategist and ive been working in the creative industries for the last 10 years. Im also a teacher, a disrupter and a change maker. I’ve built wellbeing strategies for international education providers, i’ve created a Maori and Pacific creative community (and event platform) and i’m now trying to develop a collaborative for maori designers—Im passionate about solving problems in my community. I’ve recently quit my job to pursue work in the community and I run a fulltime freelance design service covering strategy, design, photography and AR/digital production. Im currently trying to rely less on my agents to find me work in the ‘western studio land’ and im seeking out more community social driven work where I work directly with maori businesses. Where can I find this work? I know its out there and I know there’s heaps but for some reason i’m just struggling to find it. What are the spaces I can explore to connect with people in this space?

  Hi – We’re a small film production and advertising company based out of Auckland. Of course, due to COVID 19, our business has greatly been affected and we’ve been struggling to generate income and continue operations as smoothly as before.   Hi there,We are a collaborative design business just starting up, called Ember-Ruby Design service. We are in need of some advice, as we need to purchase ArchiCAD 2021 to start our first job that we have been contracted, (we had the earlier version of this software but it is no longer compatible) This software is expensive an upfront cost of $10,700 and because we haven’t traded before we don’t know how we would be able to get a loan or grant to help us.   Kia-Ora :),I’ve been selling my Maori art from home (in Brisbane Australia) for the last 6yrs. My main mahi was Maori Canvas art, however lately, Ive started doing Maori Vinyl designs on acrylic coasters, Placemats, Karakia Boards, Home decor items with Maori labels & Maori wedding stationery (invites, rsvps, thank you cards etc). Ive currently got my daughter designing my website (she’s a uni student), but was wondering about other avenues I could take to expose my business? Im already booked for some Maori market events in the area, but they may not even go ahead right now.   kia ora,I’m writing to ask about my prints. I am an artist who sells entertainment and arts content in physical form and digitally, although things aren’t moving as well as I would hope, in fact I am basically moving nothing at all. I use facebook predominantly as my source for running promotions and can’t afford to run ads right now. I have two websites: rogerwhiteside.com which is set up in a blog on wordpress and rogerwhiteside.co.nz which is free hosted.I realise I need to perform my music to gain traction with a fan base etc and probably to hold exhiibitions to sell art, I just don’t have any funding behind me to initiate anything. I have little to no equipment other than a computer, really basic phone and the internet (which actually is a lot and helps heaps).Any advice for what to do next would be amazing and much appreciated thank you.

  Hello and thank you for offering to help so many businesses during these difficult times. I own a small (nearly 1 year old) business making living art. Much of my work has been custom work for individual clients. I also lease some of my artwork to businesses and am about to launch an initiative to lease some of my products out for weddings. I am concerned that I have my whole formula for working out my lease pricing incorrect, due to some feedback I have received. Is there any kind of formula that can be used to work out one off pricing for an event or for leasing items on a weekly, monthly or yearly term.

  I just started a small knitwear business during corona and would really like to support NZ businesses but also would like to save money while doing so. Are there any reputable companies that provide supplies in bulk such as tags for clothings, thread, sew on snaps, yarns, etc at a reasonable rate? Have been searching online but haven’t seen very many wholesale options or bulk items.

  Hi there ,Prior to the lockdown I was looking at starting up some sort of arts and craft business. I have had a head injury and it is not likely that I will be able to return to my previous occupation in the forseeable future, ie I am currently unemployed and supported financially by my partner,I have been making a variety of things (some could be considered a bit quirky, not really mainstream); I make cards for birthdays etc, paper decorations for a party, a wide range of styles for paper flowers, bouquets that sit in a jar or you can attach to the wall, 3D wall art, doll clothes, dressed up recycled flower vases, patchwork items etc etc etcJust before the lockdown I was going to go to the local arts and craft market, which was run twice a month in the library foyer, to investigate what it would be likely that I could sell in that setting and the possibility of opening up my own stall there.Unfortunately now that we have COVID19 I don’t think this is going to be an option for me to try for quite a while. Can you give me some advice about the best way to get started; setting up an online ? and especially how to test/ work out what people will buy, how to price things etc I can make such a wide varitey of things, I don’t know where to start.   Kia Ora, I am an Event Organisor of 20yrs that has always retained work through word of mouth. Due to Covid, like everyone else affected, I have lost 100% of my contracts. I have throughout the years thought of building a website, but have never quite understood how it could help someone like me. I know that sounds naive and possibly archaic, so my question is: would setting myself up a website be of benefit, if so, how do I get started, and where do I start?

  Hi, I am a sole trader making art who would like to have a website with the ability to make some sales, book commissions, take emails etc. I would like direct links to my work from social media so they can be instantly purchased. I do not have large amounts of inventory to keep track of however in the future this may change. Is it better to invest in a website developer or try to stumble through it on my own with a third party provider? is there a cost benefit that outweighs one or the other and how much should I be paying per month to have it hosted as a small business?
